LORELEI
alias: lore (pronounced Lor - ee)
age: 4.5 years
gender: female
breed(s): golden retriever x husky
height: 21 inches
weight: 35 lbs
physical: Lorelei is a mutt, and is not a very big dog compared to most. She is more lanky than anything, with long and graceful legs. Her muzzle is narrow, and her tail long with silky fur. Her pelt is pretty thick which comes from her ancestry and can bother her a bit in the heat. Her ears are "confused," not knowing whether to stay pricked like a husky's or to flop like a retriever's. They seem to have moods of their own.
Lorelei's thick coat is a creamy color, in some places more golden and in some places a bit browner. Her ears are dark compared to the rest of her, and she has a few brown streaks in her tail. She has paler husky-like markings on the underside of her body. This gives her a white stripe down her snout and white paws.
Lorelei's eyes are the most striking part of her body. They are a vivid, ghostly-pale shade of blue. When you look into them, you can see that they are completely unfocused. Lore does not have the sense of sight. Perhaps some of her other senses are sharper to make up for it, but they aren't much above an average dog's.
character: Lorelei is a bit of a proud animal. She hates having to depend on others, as this is usually the case due to her blindness. To those who think that she's weak for it, she can appear snappish and rude. She likes to prove that she's in control of what happens to her. This can make her seem far from polite to any leaders, though in reality she's just afraid that she is really as weak as people say she is. She normally resents those that try to help her.
Deep down, Lorelei is a kind dog. If treated with equality, she can be your best friend. She enjoys conversations with others and likes to see what she can figure out about others' personalities and wishes. She also wants to help those in need -- but generally cannot do this. While she offers a shoulder to cry on, so to speak, she would probably be rolling her blind eyes at anyone who weeps for too long. She admires strength in others, not some sob-story-debbie-downer who complains a lot.
Lorelei resents the idea of having a pack. This is, truthfully, because she is terrified of them. She was in a pack once, kept only because she was a female, in theory to bear pups. She thinks that anyone who shows weakness in a pack is as good as dead to the brutish alpha dogs. For this reason she is also very wary of males, treating them always to her fiery attitude.
history: In brief, Lorelei was born as a stray out on the streets of some human village. She was offered food there but no one ultimately took her in because of her blindness and the fact that everyone there wanted a working dog. Eventually, she and her small family were caught up in a pack territory.
When she tried to defend her offspring, Lore's mother was killed. Her siblings did not survive the attack either, as they had been deemed weak. The alpha kept Lorelei alive. Even if she was blind, she would be able to bear him pups. He also wanted someone for his restless members to harass and take their anger out on.
Lorelei came to the beaches of Riptide after her first litter of pups were born. Most had some sort of defect, due to her bad genes. The alpha had a mind to kill her, but she escaped with the help of one or two more kind-hearted hounds. She now wanders alone, trusting no one, but afraid that she would never trust anyone.

out of character name: You can call me Lorelei; I don't have a fancy OOC name. x3
role play example: I don't have much of an example as I have recently come off of a roleplaying hiatus. Here is some of my writing; I don't delve far from this, though my length obviously varies depending on who I am rping with. Tell me if you need another sample and I can come up with one. This was the one suspected of being too smart for his own good.
What did smart mean again?
Himura smiled icily at the brute of a man taking up the seat across from him. He coolly waited for the idiot to quit yammering and by no means had to wait for him to stop chewing his double sized burger. And people thought that animals had no table manners—well, at least they weren’t expected to have any. He still felt disgusted as he watched the crumbling beef.
“So you’re with animal control?” the hulking man-thing mumbled, spewing some of his food. “Nah, we need the frigging SWAT team or something. Them ain’t feral dogs—them’s got witchcraft. Don’t say that I’m a crazy person; I ain’t. I saw what I saw and ain’t nothing can change my mind. His accent was unusually pronounced, showing that he wasn’t from the coast. He spat on the sidewalk, shifting in the outdoor chair as the shade from the red cloth overhang cast ugly shadows around his eyes.
Himura ran his fingers through his auburn hair, cut to hang messily around his face. Wiping anxiety from his brow with his hand, he asked, “Nothing, huh? Do your buddies believe you or have they called the mental institution yet?” His white teeth gleamed in a cruel grin that actually made the heavy man tighten his lip nervously. So even the thick-headed humans knew when something’s up.
“They—I—I ain’t told ’em yet,” he stammered, placing his sandwich down again. “They’d—I thought someone who worked with the damn things would’ve seen something.”
Himura closed his green eyes lazily. “You want to know what I think, sir?” He looked him over and rose gracefully. “Would you like to come with me?” It wasn’t a question. He turned and walked briskly away. The man dumped his trash after clumsily scrambling for a napkin caught in the salty wind. He followed, obedient if unsure. His gaze fixed on what little of Himura’s face he could see, like a child awaiting orders from a teacher—a child who was a bit wary of what those orders may be.
“W-where are we going?”
The lean man shook his head briefly. He paused at the edge of the sidewalk and glanced into the darkness of a close alleyway. The day was unusually quiet; he was surprised he had been able to rouse the heavy human into heading out in the morning. Soon the seaside area would be full of tourists—the only people around were the locals who were too busy on the beach to notice. He tried to keep his senses heightened as he turned back toward the guy, looking him over with narrowed eyes.
“You aren’t lying about this, are you?”
He scowled adamantly at the question. “If I was, I wouldn’t’ve come asking for you. Damn it, why does everyone ask me if I’m insane?” He turned his eyes angrily away for a moment then crossed his arms with finality. “I know I saw that dog.”
Himura smirked and tilted his head slightly to one side. “Then you know too much.”
In a flash of scarlet light a heartbeat later, a reddish-brown and white dog stood where the auburn-haired man once stood. The human gasped as the creature leapt at him and sank his teeth into his arm. He attempted to beat the animal off, but its grip was too strong. He screamed then dropped in agony as pain welled through his back. Another dog, its demeanor as lethally intelligent as the first’s, had struck him with a bloodthirsty snarl. Both shifted their grip to the man’s neck as he became unable to defend himself. Crimson pooled onto the sidewalk, and the man’s gaze clouded over.
